immaculate conception celebration

In 1854, Pope Pius IX's solemn declaration, Ineffabilis Deus, clarified with finality the long-held belief of the Church that Mary was conceived free from original sin. In proclaiming the Immaculate Conception of Mary as a dogma of the Church, the pope expressed precisely and clearly that Mary was conceived free from the stain of original sin. This privilege of Mary derives from God's having chosen her as Mother of the Savior; thus she received the benefits of salvation in Christ from the very moment of her conception. This great gift to Mary, an ordinary human being just like us, was fitting because she was destined to be Mother of God. The purity and holiness of the Blessed Virgin Mary is a model for all Christians.

Once again our parish has shown its great devotion to Our Lady as we celebrate the Solemnity of the Immaculate Conception, the patroness of the Philippines, last December 8, 2009. Unexpectedly, the church became full of devotees of our Virgin Mary despite the scattered and unpredictable downpour of rain at the onset of the celebration.

It was decided that the activities be done in the afternoon so as to evangelize the people especially the youth of the devotion to Our Lady of the Immaculate Conception. Nevertheless, the Kapilya of Brgy. Tres Marias, proceeded with the traditional dawn procession around the poblacion.

The parish's celebration started with the praying of Holy Rosary followed by the Solemn Eucharistic Celebration and a solemn procession of Marian images.

As always, all religious organizations headed by the Marian Council of our Parish actively participated during the whole activities which was organized by the Commission on Worship.

Hark! how the heveanly anthem drowns

Awake my soul and sing

We thank and praise God for giving us a loving Ina, Blessed Virgin Mary and the devotion to the Holy Rosary. We will continue praying the Rosary in our Parish Church every 5:00 in the afternoon, Mondays-Saturdays. This will be sponsored by the 'Little Marians' whose apostolate is to promote the said devotion to the little ones. The parish encourages and invites children to come at our parish every afternoon to pray. Let us make Rosary a habit of every child.
