installation of New PPC

A new dawn has broken on our parish last Tuesday, December 22, 2009 as our very own Bishop, Most Reverend Arturo M. Bastes, SVD, DD. installed the newly appointed Parish Pastoral Council for the quinquinium 2009-2014, of St. Joseph Parish Donsol, Sorsogon.

The reorganization came after our diocese entered into its new quinquinium ushered by the reshuffling of the assignments of Sorsogon clergy. It has been a diocesan policy that the PPC serves co-terminus with the parish priest.

PPC is the main consultative body of the parish priest who is also ex-officio president of the organization. They will also help in the implementation of the diocesan pastoral program in our parish.

Our present officers are composed of parishioners who have proven their commitment to the parish in their own personal capacities. They were appointed by our parish priest based on the recommendations of some parishioners and church workers.

After personal and spiritual preparations, we are happy to formally announce the St. Joseph Parish Pastoral Council 2009-2014.

simbang gabi started in St. Joseph Parish

Nine days novena started in our parish last December 16 as parishioners overflowed in the Church for the first day of Simbang Gabi. As early as three o'clock in the morning, people started coming to the church to anticipate the sudden flow of churchgoers.

Before the Mass, there was a short rite of blessing of Christmas belen and lanterns and the ceremony of lighting of Christmas light and raising the Christmas Parols by selected families and groups.

Fr. Jojo will not be the sole celebrant in the whole nine days of simbang gabi. Our parish is blessed to have no less than our diocese's chancellor, Rev. Fr. Antonio Lorilla, to celebrate the Mass on the 4th-6th days and our beloved bishop, Most Rev. Arturo M. Bastes on the 7th day which also be the installation of our new Parish Pastoral Council.

Parish Advent Recollection

Here are some scenes of the Parish Advent Recollection held last December 12, 2009

commission on worship chairpersons - sis. Eden, Sis. Erie and Bro. Roy (not in the picture) facilitated the registration of participants, wherein more than 130 persons - religious organization members, kapilya pastoral councils and other parishioners attended.
Msgr. Noe delos Santos, a Biblical Expert from the Diocese of Legaspi, deepened the group's knowledge of Jesus, whose coming we await in joyful hope, according to the Gospel of Matthew and Luke.

Through Msgr. delos Santos' insight, the group appreciated Jesus, the God's Love incarnate, and their acceptance of Him in their lives more meaningful.

They also realized the immensity of God's Love shown in the Incarnation - A God who stripped away His being God by becoming one of us, sharing everything of our Humanity except in sin.

Christmas, then, calls everyone to that the same love of God, by stripping out our ownselves and by becoming one with our neighbors.

The Holy Mass - in honor of Our Lady of Guadalupe

Blessing of Holy Bible

Msgr. delos Santos also distributed Holy Bible to the group.
